Meet My Mum- Bec
Hi There!
Pawprints have lead you to Chief's and Indie's pawsite .
My name is Bec I am just shy of five foot and have always had a passion for the canine speies, I would love to be a dog trainer as it is my dream job. My favourite colour is red, my favourite animal is a wolf and I am passionate about animal welfare.
This website is dedicated to Chief and his newly adopted sister Indie and their pawventures mainly from their point of view. I hope that you get enjoyment out of my fur babies paw-log's that we share with you as well provide useful sites if you have questions.
Before Pawlog here is a back story about how Chief and I came to be as he was my first Siberian Husky.
As a child growing up I always wanted a dog. We had a Shepherd cross Rottweiler however due to health problems we lost her when I was around 4. We had a variety of pets including, a chihuahua, fish, axolotls, birds and even cats. When I was nineteen my parents bought a foxie-cross who was only with us till he was around three due as we lost him to a snake bite.
My friend had a litter of huskies and I was around everyday and would approach the litter saying 'whose coming hom e with me?'' and this black and white fuzz ball would come up and I held him close and he would just fall asleep.
I admit I was one of those skeptical people who thought that to keep huskies in the Australian climate was cruel until I researched more on the breed and got information from a series of websites.
I soon discovered that the breed can adapt well to different climates and are found all over the world. After some research I also found out that there is sport to allow you to dry sled huskies (or any dog with the will to pull) with a club right here in NSW not far from where we live.
I had not even gotten a puppy yet however my housemate at the time and I decided that we would attend a meeting. We ended up joining that night which then decided for us we would have puppies very soon. Six weeks later I had MY VERY FIRST DOG; little did I know that every photo I would be taking from here on out would be nothing but husky photos.
A black and white browned eyed little puppy (he was also the runt of the litter so he was very tiny) to call mine and with in two hours of being in his new home he acquired the name of Chief.
At the age of twelve months we went to a Sled Dog Intro Day; where we met some interesting people who helped us a lot and showed us how to harness the dogs, connect them to the gang line and then run them on a kick scooter.
I have met some amazing people along the way and travel to
different events here in Australia, I got to take Chief to the snow in
Victoria for the Altitude 5000 Sled Dog Challenge and to watch
them run in the conditions that this breed was bred for.
I have excellent mentors who are constantly helping us to achieve
some good results and learning something new every time we go to
the forest and who have now entrusted me with one of their Arctic
Power puppies. I named her Indie and she has been with us for
over a year now. Indie has helped with some of Chief's issues and
brings constant smiles to us everyday.
We post a lot on social media; enjoy my fur babies- Husky Grams
